In the first event of its kind, the Huon Valley Chamber Music Festival brought a series of musical events to the Valley over the Easter long weekend.
Organised by the Huon Valley Music Collective and artistic directors Gwyn Roberts and Jenni Flemming, the Festival began with a program of reflective music at the Cygnet Town Hall on Friday, April 7, provided by a full ensemble of violas, cellos, spinet and strings.
Saturday included two concerts – one a free event presented by the Derwent Valley Concert Band directed by Lyall McDermott inside Cygnet Primary School auditorium and another a Jazz concert inside the Cygnet Town Hall.
The Festival concluded with a concert of Chamber Music featuring piano and strings, including the elegant Menuetto and the delightful Variations from Mozart’s sublime Clarinet Quintet, with Paul Dean clarinet on the afternoon of Easter Sunday.
