A church built in 1912 has recently been given a new life in what has been a family affair. The Lymington Methodist Church was once a busy church like any other, hosting regular services, festivals, fairs and concerts, being a thriving part of the Huon Valley community.
Over the years, the use of the church has faded, leaving the building to fall into a state of disrepair. The church then fell into the hands of the Reardon family, owned by Brian Reardon, with son Bayden Reardon stating that the family desperately wanted to begin repairs.
“Our plan had always been to get the building back to its original state,” explained Bayden.
“When my dad had the property, we knew it would be a lot of work, but a building with so much history needed to be reconstructed.”
And, so began a long-term restoration project of the church, both Bayden, Brian and their family as well as David Griffiths from D J Griffiths Construction joining forces to ensure the church could remain standing for another century.
