Stalwart of the Geeveston Community Centre (GeCo) Michael Higgins has announced his retirement from his position as manager, celebrating his last day with a retirement day bash on Thursday, September 29.
While Mr Higgins has become a familiar face at GeCo and has worked with the centre for over 10 years, he has admitted that he is excited for retirement.
“I’m having some time off for a few months and I suppose I’ll see after that,” Mr Higgins said.
“I just need some time to clear my head.
“We’ve just sold a business last November which we’ve been in for 20 years and I have been here for 10 years and it’s time for a break from working.”
Mr Higgins is trying to keep his plans open for the future, but a return in person is guaranteed, stating he’ll never truly be able to leave GeCo.
