Franklin Primary School Grade 5/6 ‘Franklin Falcons’ netball team won their first game on Monday, September 19 against the Mount Nelson Primary Eagles.

The first game of the season for the team in the Kingborough Netball Association Primary School Spring Roster was a landslide win for the team, winning 20 to 7.

“It has been a small feat to get a Franklin team, being that it’s one of the Valley’s smallest school,” volunteer coach Sam Black expressed.

“Often, we’ve just put together a mix of Huon and Channel children from many different schools.

“But, this year I got a Franklin team!” Ms Black credits Joshua Mitchell, the local sports teacher for Franklin and Cygnet Primary School for assisting in the formation and development of the new team.

“Thanks should go to the wonderful sport teacher Mr. Mitchell, who invited me to join in on his sport class and teach the kids some netball basics,” stated Ms Black.
