Fitting launch for the reluctant cleric

Image: Peter Confeggi gave a reading of his book to those in attendance at his launch as well as to a virtual audience via livestream.

St Johns Church in Franklin seemed a metaphorical place for the launch of Peter Confeggi’s book entitled Memoir of a Reluctant Cleric on Saturday, September 3.

Mr Confeggi, formerly of Sydney, but now a settled Huon Valley resident, decided that the COVID pandemic provided the perfect opportunity to sit down and write a memoir about his family, a lifelong goal for him.

A former Franciscan Friar and priest of the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta, NSW, Mr Confeggi expressed that retiring from ministry has left him with a litany of tales from his time in the church, many of which lent themselves to being recounted within a book of its own.

In launching Memoir of a Reluctant Cleric, friend of Mr Confeggi, Richard Edwards, said that there were certain insights provided when reading the book.
