Amidst the torrential downpour and cyclonic winds, music poured out from Carmel Hall and St James Auditorium in Cygnet on Saturday, May 7, with the Cygnet Folk Festival celebrating 40 years of music of all genres.

After missing this year’s Folk Festival due to COVID, organisers were ecstatic to be able to put together an anniversary celebration for the Cygnet and Huon Valley community.

Artistic Director of the Cygnet Folk Festival Erin Collins said that the committee were thankful for the support from the community, with over 200 people in attendance, and grateful that the anniversary event could go ahead.

“Numbers were lower this year, with COVID definitely still impacting our celebrations,” Ms Collins stated.

“However, everyone who attended really enjoyed the event and I think everyone just enjoyed the opportunity to get up and have a boogie.”
