Eight new plaques were dedicated to Forest Workers at the Annual Memorial Service and Dedication on Sunday, February 27.
The ceremony, held at the Tasmanian Forest Workers Memorial in Heritage Park, Geeveston, welcomed over 45 family members and friends for the service and the honouring of the workers named on the newly-placed plaques.
The chairman of the Tasmanian Forest Workers Memorial Charles Rich addressed those gathered and outlined the development of the memorial from its inception in 2007, something that the Committee focuses on in order to honour those included in the now 46 names at the memorial site.
“This memorial is an important part of the heritage of Tasmania and the history of our forest workers, especially since last year’s memorial was cancelled due to COVID,” Mr Rich detailed.
