Hartz at the heart of work

The latest ARTBOX exhibition was officially launched on Friday, December 3, with Suspended Breath: A Hartz Journey opening at Willie Smith’s, providing a unique experience for the Huon Valley.

The new installation featured three separate artists and their works in painting, music and words dedicated to the Hartz Mountains.

The artists, Kat Scarlet, Gareth Dawson and Jane Rawson, all live in the Huon Valley and have interpreted the Hartz Mountains each in their own way and through their own medium; Kat Scarlet interpreted the national park in a vivid, hyper colour, patterned mosaic of painted acrylic layers, Gareth Dawson created music inspired by his response to Kat’s paintings and to the wild, unforgiving, beautiful wilderness, entitled Ascent, while Jane Rawson wrote the surreal story Moss that weaves an unexpected tale grounded in the alpine majesty of the Hartz Mountains.
