When Dover local Steven Bradley was just in his twenties, he stumbled along a star amongst the abalone shells on Dover Wharf.
“At the time, I was working for Dover Fisheries, where I was bagging up the abalone shells for sale,” Mr Bradley described.
“I had knelt down to relieve my back and put my knee right on something sharp.”
A Pacific Star medal was jutting out between the abalone shells, giving Mr Bradley a surprise.
“The pain in my knee went away with the shock of having a medal shining up at me from the shells.”
Mr Bradley took the medal home and has held onto it ever since, not having enough information to track down the owner.
“I’ve always wondered where it came from and who it belonged to, just putting a name to a face,” Mr Bradley stated.
