The SFL held its SFL and SFLW 2021 Awards evening at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre on Monday, September 27, with almost 250 players and football community attending the presentation.
SFL president Russell Young said that the evening was about celebrating the players, clubs, families and sponsors associated with the SFL this season.
“Our brand is SFL – home of community football and we now cover the majority of communities in southern Tasmania; men and women’s football brings communities together,” Mr Young expressed.
“I think we should all be proud of the part we play in it as there are a lot of communities that go through hardships, but football can help to hold us together.”
Mr Young also mentioned Cygnet Football Club volunteer Sophie Lovell in his address at the Awards evening, saying that her social media post after the grand final match was something that needed to be recognised.
